Guest Post Guidelines
Thanks for your interest in contributing.
At Explore Abuja, our mission is to showcase everything Abuja has to offer to the world. We exist as an essential digital guide to an unforgettable Abuja experience. We help locals and tourists discover the best experiences in Abuja and the wider FCT. ]
If you know the city and can write something our readers will genuinely use, we’d love to hear from you. Please read these guidelines fully before pitching or submitting.
Who we publish for
Every article must serve one or both of these readers:
- Locals who live in Abuja and want to get more out of the city (where to go, what to do, how to get things done)
- Tourists/newcomers planning a visit or a move to Abuja and need trustworthy, on-the-ground guidance
Your piece should ideally help someone in any of these audience segments.
Topics we accept
Your post should sit naturally within one of these categories:
- Places to Visit: attractions, parks, museums, landmarks, hidden gems
- Things to Do: activities, day trips, weekend plans, seasonal fun
- Eat and Drink: restaurants, cafés, street food, bars, cuisines
- Where to Stay: hotels, shortlets, neighbourhoods for visitors
- Shopping: markets, malls, stores
- Events: festivals, hangouts, recurring happenings
- Living in Abuja: real estate, education, administration, governance, safety, and other practical city topics
If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, pitch it first, and we’ll let you know.
What we won’t publish
- Generic content that isn’t specific to Abuja or the FCT
- Thin, promotional, or salesy pieces disguised as guides
- AI-spun or plagiarised content (we check)
- Anything defamatory, discriminatory, factually careless, politically inflammatory or off-brand material
- Adult content, gambling promotion, or anything unsafe for a general audience
Content and quality standards
Length
No strict word count limit, but pieces must be valuable and can be of substantial length as long as every section earns its place. We’d rather have 1,000 useful words than 2,500 padded ones.
Voice and originality
The piece must be original and written specifically for our audience.
Writing should be friendly, clear, and conversational.
Structure
Use a clear hierarchy:
- One H1 for the title
- Descriptive H2s for main sections, H3s for sub-sections
- Short paragraphs (2 to 4 sentences)
- Bullet lists and numbered steps where required to aid scanning
- Brief intro that tells the reader what they’ll get and a short closing takeaway
